Testimonial: Alisha Westberg

It is truly inspiring to watch people follow their passion and make a career out of it, and Alisha Westberg is a wonderful example of this.

Alisha is one of Green Bay’s current Nail Tech students. In this blog, she writes about how she became interested in nails and the journey she took in deciding to follow her passion and become a certified Nail Technician through the Academy of Beauty Professionals!

This is her story…

I have always loved getting my own nails done, and when I was little I was always painting family and friends’ nails. The older I got, the more interested I became. I was always fascinated with how skilled the nail techs were when I would get my nails done professionally. It was what I wanted to do when I would grow up. I loved being pampered, and the look and feel of freshly manicured hands and feet just couldn’t be beat.

When I got a little older, I discovered acrylics and my mind was blown. I got acrylics done for the first time and fell in love with nails all over again. I had played with the press-on nails for years and was never happy with the look, and they never seemed to stay on long enough.

The more I got my nails done professionally, the pickier I became. I was sometimes unhappy with how my nails looked, so I started to do my own nails. I was often questioned where I had gotten them done, and nobody believed I had done them myself! After gel polish came out, I had to find a nail tech that offered it.

Now, after getting my nails done for a few years and making a close friend of my nail tech, we were talking one day and she came up with the idea of me going to school for Nail Tech! I thought about it for a couple of years, and eventually decided it was a great idea.

I had gone down a few different career paths before and nothings seemed like the right fit for me. Why not go to school for something that I have always been interested in and loved, and then make a career out of it? I always feel so good about myself after getting my nails done – I want to be able to make others feel the same way, even if it’s just for a short time while they get their nails done 🙂
